SEISMIC PRINCIPLES SEMINAR

This course will provide a review of the basic principles of seismic design of structures for the California Professional Civil Engineer License Examination. The seminar registration fee includes four full days of instruction, course materials complete with example problems, and course participants experience a high (>85%) pass rate. The review course will address the 2007 California Building Code.

This course will be held on the following dates: March 6, 13, 20, and 27th, 2010 (4 Saturdays)

Seminar Topics:
The review course will address the latest version of the seismic code. Effects of earthquakes on structures; Introduction to 2007 CBC Earthquake Design Requirements; Generation of seismic forces; Base shear distribution; Load paths and transmission of loads through the structure; Analysis and design of small building structures with flexible diaphragms; Wall rigidities / Rigid diaphragms; Single degree of freedom oscillators / response spectrum; Practice problems end examples; Review of selected topics; Questions and final clarifications. A binder will be presented to each course participant with all relevant materials required for the review course.

EARLY registration is highly recommended. The Registration deadline is September 12, 2009. Enrollment is limited due to classroom size, so register now to secure a seat. All registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The registration fees cover all course instruction and materials. Participants in this review course have a very high pass rate (>85%). In the rare instance a PE Seismic Review student does not pass the seismic portion of the PE Exam, future sessions of the course may be attended at no additional fee (previous course notes are required).
