2008 - 2009 Officer Nominations and Elections

The YMF is taking nominations for the upcoming 2008-2009 Officer Term. Download the Nomination Form and review the Officer Positions available for nominations. PE Review Courses

SEISMIC PRINCIPLES SEMINAR

Sponsored by ASCE, San Francisco Section & San Francisco Section Younger Member Forum.

This course will provide a review of the basic principles of seismic design of structures for the California Professional Civil Engineer License Examination. The seminar registration fee includes four full days of instruction, course materials complete with example problems, and course participants experience a high (>85%) pass rate. The review course will address the 2007 California Building Code.

Terrestrial LiDAR

Terrestrial LiDAR: 3D Imaging of the Natural Environment – Next Generation Surveying

Significant technological advances have been made in the last 25 years with regards to field surveying methods. It is now possible to collect millions of data points in minutes, creating detailed 3D ‘images’ of real world settings. An overview of terrestrial LiDAR (3D laser scanning) will be presented and case studies will be highlighted that demonstrate the technology in action. Field measurements that were previously too time consuming or tedious can be easily accomplished with this new technology.

The San Francisco Section YMF and the San Jose Branch of ASCE will be hosting the South Bay BBQ for the 5th consecutive year!

Come on down to Lick Mill Park in Santa Clara on Thursday July 10 for a celebration of Summer. YMF and San Jose Branch members will provide refreshments and tasty treats from the grill! Please feel free to bring a dessert or a side dish to share. Don't forget your spiking shoes as the Volleyball net will also be up again this year! See you then!!!
