What better way to spend a Thursday night than drinking beers and playing Trivia?!?  We are calling all YMF & EWB members to come out on Thursday, March 8th and test their brain power against the common folk. Let's see if we are all really as smart as we think we are and take down the regulars!  The first two rounds will be provided by YMF.  The limit is 25 people and we need to put in the reservation by March 1st, so please RSVP ASAP!

SEISMIC REVIEW COURSE

 

The SF YMF Seismic Review Course will provide a review of the basic principles of seismic design of structures for the California Professional Civil Engineer Examination. The review course will address the 2007 California Building Code and the registration fee includes four full days of instruction, course materials complete with example problems, and additional references. Course participants experience a high (>85%) pass rate as the instructor, Chris Tokas, has over 25 years of experience in the field. The review course will be held on 4 consecutive Saturdays starting on Feb. 25th at the Arup office in San Francisco.

SUPER SKI STRAVAGANZA


NOTE: DUE TO POOR SNOW CONDITIONS THE DATE OF THE SKI TRIP HAS CHANGED!

The YMF Ski Trip is back! Dust off your snow riding equipment because April 20-22 YMF will once again partake in snow-filled adventures.  YMF will rent a cabin near Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, provide dinner Saturday night, breakfast Saturday and Sunday, and beverages for all.  Space is limited so be sure to sign up early (friends welcome).  Directions and other logistics will be distributed to all registered attendees.

Every year ASCE members go to Sacramento and Washington, D.C. for "Fly-Ins" to lobby on behalf of the civil engineering profession. If you've ever wondered what these fly-ins are about or what affect policy has on your career, now is your chance. The Region 9 Government Affairs Committee is currently selecting members to attend this year's legislative activities. If you are interested in participating in this years events, please send a brief statement of interest to Danielle Elkins, the SF YMF representative to the Region 9 committee at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by January 15th. Those selected will be trained on the latest policy issues related to civil engineering and how to speak to their representatives on January 22nd in Sacramento. Participants will then travel to Sacramento with members from all over California on February 10th to lobby their legislative representatives on behalf of ASCE.
